Travel In Place - part 2

Spring Flowers in the New Hampshire White Mountains

Spring flowers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire

The saga continues.  We last left you after our day trip to Middlebury.  It was such fun that the following weekend, we were given another cool opportunity.  You may or may not know that we have been working on “building” the truck to be our off-road / overlanding vehicle.  Many of the important or I should say required pieces have been installed. Check out the some inside photos on Instagram @the.viewfinderz.  But once the sliders, skid plates and the lift kit were installed (of course the camper top too), the only thing left was to build the cabinet storage.  We’ll chat about the truck in later posts with pics too, of course. 😁

So, while we work on the inside of the truck, we take opportunities to head out and explore. One of the things we wanted was a new awning.  Something light weight, easy to put up and take down, as well as store.  There are many options for awnings, but we opted to create one which led us to Intervale, New Hampshire and Ragged Mountain Equipment. It was another fun and quick jaunt next door to our neighboring state of New Hampshire in search of awning fabric.

No fabric was found, however driving through the White Mountains gave us many photo ops including The White Mountain Resort and the Silver Cascade waterfall in Crawford Notch.

The day was sunny yet a little cool in the mountains, but each stop we made along our route was stunning.  Springtime in the mountains is the best time of the year.  The trees are just beginning to blossom this light soft green which contrasts with the snow up high.  The light has changed and feels like new life is breathing into each day, its nearly magic.

Since we were not able to acquire our fabric, we didn’t let the day go to waste. After taking many photos, lunch at the Moat Mountain Smokehouse was beyond amazing.  Every bite was as good as the previous and the dessert was big enough for at least 4 people.  Delicious.  With our bellies full we headed back to Vermont and mark the day as fabulous.
