Lew & Kat Meet

Wedding Day 2014 - Photo Carol Miller Photography

What started this crazy thing was a bouldering competition.

Lew, who has never liked competing was at his home gym for the second leg of a trifecta comp event. I, on the other hand, LOVE a bouldering competition and was loving every second of it.

The way we each tell the story is a bit different. My recollection is as soon as I saw him, I wanted to get to know him. Photos were taken yet I was unusually shy. But man did he make me all twitterpated. He, on the other hand, says that I was a straight up bitch. LOL are acronyms allowed anywhere but text. :)

If you have never climbed rock or bouldered before, you may not know that having a spotter, is someone that stands behind, watching to prevent the climber from hurting themselves as they land. Apparently, he was trying to spot me, and he IS the best spotter in the world, but I was paying attention to climbing and my son and his friends were moving him out of the way…… Hence, I am a bitch.

A few weeks later we officially met. Even then he was funny and made me and others around him laugh at every turn. He still tells some of the same stories, but they will always be funny to me. That night we exchanged email addresses. Since I had taken SO MANY photos of him during the comp, I mentioned I would be sending him a few. You may wonder, what man ‘actually’ wants photos of themselves? HA probably very few. A ploy to get my contact for certain. Now, I am not a climbing photographer, therefore, many of the images were from the bottom up. As you can imagine many of the photos focused on his butt.

First email subject, “nice ass”. Well, it was and to me, he needed to be told. Our first date we met in New Paltz, NY at the Shawangunk’s, i.e., the Gunks. His text message to me on the way up, as I was trying desperately to safely drive in the fog was “Good Morning, Sunshine”. At that very moment, I knew I was a goner. Whatever he asked, pretty much, I was willing to do. My heart was his forever more.

From that moment on our adventure grew into climbing trips, buying a house, moving all over, more on that later and then getting married.
